Now, if you are ready to join the cause of helping the poor, let's get started.
There are a number of ways you can help raise awareness of this issue. The simplest, and perhaps most important is to just GET INVOLVED. Contact your local church, or another non-profit organization and ask them what you can do to help. I am sure that your assistance will be welcomed with open arms.
If you can't get in touch with someone local, contact me! I will be more than happy to help you personally. Even without a local opportunity to help people/minister, you can still "extend your hand" in other ways. One GREAT way to do this is by using the incredible technology we have today to communicate. Pick up a phone book and start calling people. Don't try to tell them about Christ, that won't work. They'll just hang up on you. Ask them how they're doing. Ask them if a total stranger might be able to improve their day. Ask them if they have an issue that they might want help with. Use some of the material on this page if you think it's a good idea. If you discover that they are genuinely poor, give to them out of whatever you have to spare. You will be rewarded, just as the woman in the Bible who gave everything she had was rewarded.
If you don't want to do the phone thing, walk/drive outside and start meeting people. Smile at them. Ask some of the same questions listed above. Use the power that you have; the power of a million new ideas... and always do whatever you do in the name of Christ... but don't ruin His reputation. :)
Even further, you can reach beyond the real world and into the digital world... use the internet! The internet reaches literally BILLIONS of people everyday. Create a blog, or a social networking account, or an actual website. Tell people about whatever you created; advertise it however you can. If you want, copy and paste the text from this page to whatever you create. Again, do whatever you do in the name of Christ... and remember His reputation. :)
